The Story Behind South Lake Tahoe's Favorite Coffee Shop
Meet the Founders
Three Pines Coffee Company was born from a love of community, culture, and exceptional coffee. Founded by Dimas and Dina Pino in South Lake Tahoe, our name tells our story — Pino means "pine" in Spanish, and three Pinos make Three Pines.
Dimas grew up in the highland mountains of Panama — a region that produces some of the world's most celebrated coffee. Dina, a Palestinian American, grew up in a family deeply rooted in food, health, and hospitality. The two met in Boquete, Panama, where their shared love of coffee, travel, and community took root.
Why South Lake Tahoe?
Together, Dimas and Dina have traveled the world, absorbing the flavors, cultures, and values that now define Three Pines Coffee Company. Their journey brought them to South Lake Tahoe, where they found a small-town community spirit that felt like home.
Our Coffee Philosophy
At Three Pines, we source only organic, single-origin coffee from Latin America — rotating through 7 to 8 different beans at any given time so every pour-over tells a different story. We partner exclusively with farmers who practice ethical, sustainable growing and pay above fair-trade wages, because great coffee starts long before it reaches your cup.
Awards & Recognition
We were honored to be named Best Coffeehouse, Best Barista, Best Plant-Based Menu, and Best Healthy Eats at the Best of Tahoe 2025 awards — recognition that reflects the care we put into every detail of the Three Pines experience.
